MATHEMATICS

Muthayammal College of Arts & Science was established in the year 1994. Our department was also started in the same year. Our Department provided an excellent coaching for allied maths paper of UG Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, BCA & Biotechnology and also for PG students of Computer Science & MCA till the year 2001.

By the successful performance of our department, the college offered to start undergraduate and post graduate course in mathematics from the academic year 2002-2003. In the first batch of M.Sc. a student named N.Suguna got the Gold medal. At present we are working with 11 staff members.

The Department conducts the seminar and Industrial visits for the students so that they can improve their skills along with their theoretical knowledge.

Our college provides separate library facilities for the undergraduate and post graduate students with number of books, magazines and journals.

Scope of the course
After completing the undergraduate and post graduate course in mathematics, Students can go for Teaching profession in Schools, Polytechnics & Colleges.
They have an eligibility to write Civil Service Examination and all other Competitive examinations.
Students can get clerical jobs in industries, banks and in many government departments.
Students along with computer knowledge can go for jobs in computer fields.
Students can take tuitions of their own and can stand on their own legs.

Course Types
Course Eligibility
Course Eligibility for B.Sc. Mathematics
A pass in Higher secondary examination of tamilnadu Higher secondary Board or some other board accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto with mathematics (Other than Business Mathematics) as one of the subjects.

Course Eligibility for M.Sc.Mathematics
A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree examination in Branch I Mathematics or B.Sc. Applied Sciences of this University or an examination of some other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc. Degree Examination of this University after a course of two academic years in the university department / colleges affiliated to the Periyar University.
