CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY

The Centre for Biotechnology was established on July 1999. Hundreds of graduates & post graduates and more than 50 research scholars are passed out from this department and most of the people are working in various biotechnology establishments allover India and abroad. Now This centre offering different courses under the following departments.

Department of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology was established on July 1999 with Post Graduate Degrees in Biotechnology. After one year it offers Biotechnology as Under Graduate Course. From the Academic Year 2005-06, it offers M.Sc., Biotechnology (5 Years Integrated) course also and two additional sections added in M.Sc., Biotechnology. Today, it has gained recognition as a centre for excellence in research programmes including M.Phil. and Ph.D. The department is equipped with all facilities needed for a good research department.

Department of Bioinformatics

The Department of Bioinformatics was established in 2003 with post graduate degree in Bioinformatics and has since upgraded its infrastructure to accommodate a large computer laboratory, the latest software applications, different operating systems and internet facility. Now this department offers both under graduate and post graduate courses in Bioinformatics.

Department of Biochemical Technology

The teaching and research potential of the college has enabled it to set new benchmarks in the field of biochemical technology established in the year 2003, with special focus on biochemical and bioprocess technology, the college has made significant advancement in basic biological research and health care. Parallel emphasis is also laid on ensuring intellectual property rights that not only facilitates faster growth in the area of study, but also offers protection to key advancement in the area.

	The Laboratory of this Department is one of the best laboratories in India with all the required ultra modern facilities.
	Our PG Students continuously win gold medals and ranks in the University Examinations from 2000 onwards.
	Our M.Phil. Biotechnology Students continuously win gold medals and ranks in the University Examinations from 2004 onwards.
	Our UG Biotechnology students win gold medals and ranks in the University Examinations from 2004 onwards.
	Our Students have been placed in the various reputed companies and institutes like Biocon, Panacea Biotech, Dr.Reddy's Laboratories, Shantha Biotech etc through our placement cell.
	Our Research Centre has been organizing national level biological congresses for the past seven consecutive years sponsored by CSIR, ICMR, TNSCST and NCSTC.
	Our Research Centre has conducted many extensive programmes like Mushroom cultivation, vermi culture, sericulture, apiculture for the benefit of students, farmers and self help group sponsored by the state and national funding agencies.
	Our faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students have published their research findings in referred journals periodically.
	Our faculty members published books like Immunology & Immuno Technology and Environmental Sciences.
	Our Research Centre has created a library with hundreds of reference books, text books, journals, magazines, dailies, weeklies etc.
	Insurance policies (cover) for all students and their parents and staff members.
