HOTEL MANAGEMENT &
CATERING SCIENCE
The
department of Hotel and catering management was started in
Muthayammal College of Arts & Science two years back. Within
this short time it has attracted students all over from
India through the outstanding educational performances
and now it has a strength of fifty students.
1.Scope of the Course
Hotel industry is one
of the largest growing industry which has ifs operations all
around the world. It has a wide opening to the skilled
personalities and this course is the main door to enter the
Hotel industry which offers large number of job
opportunities and highest remuneration when compared to all
other industry.

Eligibility
To join this
course the student must have completed his higher secondary
(+2) or equivalent to that.

Scope for higher studies
After finishing the
under graduation the student may either join the post
graduation in Hotel and Catering Management or in the
specialization course for focusing in a particular
departments of hotel industry and in tourism management
3. Lab facilities
Food production
There are three labs
(Kitchen) to train the students in basic, advance and
quantity production equipped with latest ranges, ovens and
freezers.
Food and Beverage service
There are two F&B labs in which one is
a restaurant and other one is a bar. They have all the
latest trends of cutlery and crockery used in hotel industry
Accommodation operation
There is a
housekeeping lab in which the student will get training for
handling, clearing and maintaining the liner and all areas
of the hotel industry
Front Office
In the front office lab
the students will get training to develop his communication
skills and learn how to maintain front office records
Students achievements
The students have
scored a hundred present result in the past semester.
Department activities
Guest lectures
Eminent scholars from hotel industry
are invited at regular intervals to give lectures to the
students.
Inplant Training
Students will be sent
to inplant training for four months at the fourth
semester which will enhance them to service in the working
place and upgrade their skills in the department of their
choice. Students of II-B.Sc. Hotel Catering Management
undergone training at hotel Nataraj International, Nasik for
the period of two months.
Seminars and
conferences
Seminars and
conferences about hotel industry for conducted and
participated in regular intervals by the students.
Self interested
projects
Food festivals and food
display are conducted by the students on every
college functions and also on other days.
Extra curricular
activities
There
are a wide range of extra curricular activities such as
Hindi, Yoga, Spoken English, Computer Training, Sports, NSS,
YRC in which students can learn, participate and complete
it.
